VPSA
The VPSA Biogas Purification System is an advanced gas upgrading technology used to convert raw biogas into high-purity Bio-CNG / CBG (up to 97–99% Methane) by selectively removing CO₂, H₂S, moisture, and impurities.
Unlike conventional chemical or water scrubbing systems, VPSA works on adsorption + vacuum regeneration, making it highly energy efficient, fully automatic, and completely chemical-free.
TECTIKO VPSA systems are specially designed for continuous 24×7 operation, with high methane recovery and low operating cost – suitable for SATAT, MNRE, and commercial Bio-CNG projects.
Key Features
- Methane purity up to 98%
- High methane recovery (92–96%)
- No chemicals, no water, zero waste discharge
- Low energy consumption vs. PSA / Water Scrubbing
- Long-life European molecular sieve media
- PLC + SCADA monitoring with alarms & auto control
- Skid-mounted compact modular design
- Low maintenance – no moving internal parts
Working Principle
- Raw biogas passes through pre-treatment filters
- Gas enters adsorption vessels filled with molecular sieve
- CO₂ & impurities are trapped on the adsorbent
- Methane passes through as purified Bio-CNG
- Vacuum regenerates the beds, releasing captured CO₂
- Twin-tower cyclic operation ensures continuous gas output
Parameter Specification
- Feed Gas Flow 50 – 5000 Nm³/hr
- CH₄ Purity 92% – 98%
- Methane Recovery 92% – 96%
- Operating Pressure 1.0 – 1.5 bar
- Adsorbent Media CMS / Zeolite Molecular Sieve
- Pre-treatment Requirement H₂S < 100 ppm, Dew point controlled
- Automation Fully automatic PLC-SCADA
- Power Consumption 0.18 – 0.25 kWh/Nm³ (typical)
Applications
- Bio-CNG / CBG Fuel Production
- Vehicle Fuel (Automotive Grade CBM)
- City Gas Distribution (CGD) Network Injection
- Industrial & Commercial Fuel Replacement
Benefits
- Eco-friendly Technology (No chemicals, No wastewater)
- Lower operating cost compared to chemical/water systems
- High methane recovery = more CBG sale output
- Low maintenance, long media life (8–10 years)
- Fast start-stop capability – ideal for distributed plants
- Works smoothly even with fluctuating biogas composition
